Woodgate Primary Academy provides all children with the option of a hot meal at lunch everyday. Our new catering company Aspens has years of experience delivering nutritious food to schools on a daily basis.
All children eat in the Dining Hall regardless of whether they are eating a school lunch or a packed lunch. Eating and socialising together is a vital part of our day. We all enjoy sitting down with our friends for a chat and food and we believe children should enjoy the same opportunity.
Meals are prepared on a daily basis offsite and then transported in a dedicated vehicle in special boxes which ensure temperature and food quality is maintained.
We operate a no nut policy in our kitchens and are able to cater for a variety of different allergies or intolerances. Please ensure that the school is aware of this information.
All meals are nutritionally balanced with a daily meat and vegetarian option over the course of our 3 week menu cycle. Menus are updated on a termly basis and copies will be sent to all parents and carers each term. You will also find this information on our school website.
Why choose school lunches?
Children who have a meal at lunchtime are much more likely to thrive and fulfill their potential. Hungry tummies = tired children. All meals are nutritionally balanced to comply with government guidelines. Save time and worry by letting us prepare your child’s lunch.
How to order?
Meals are bookable on Swiftkitchen, which is a dedicated app where you can order school meals for your children. You will find more information about Swiftkitchen here:
https://skdocumentstore.support-services.com
Please have a look at the information for parents. The school office will provide you with an individual Key for each child to enable ordering.
Free School Meals
● Early Years and Key Stage 1
Every child in Early Years and Key Stage 1 (Reception to Year 2) is entitled to a free school meal. You do not need to apply to receive this, but you will still need to order meals on Swiftkitchen.

Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals if you receive Universal Credit. If you think you may be entitled please go to the Free School Meals section of West Sussex website, where you can apply.
Packed lunches
We have found that most children enjoy a hot school dinner. If you would like to give your child a packed lunch, in line with our Healthy Eating Policy, please ensure the following:
- Lunches should be nut and egg free.
- Sandwiches should have healthy fillings where possible (not jam or chocolate spread).
- Drinks are to be low in sugar and not carbonated.
- Confectionery items such as sweets, full chocolate bars or marshmallows are not allowed (biscuits with a covering of chocolate such as Penguins, Clubs etc are allowed).
How do I pay?
Meals are free for Reception up to Year 2. If your child is in Key Stage 2, our method of payment is via the Swiftkitchen app.
